How Much CBD Oil Should YOU Be Taking?

Whether you’ve been using CBD for a long time or if you are a first-timer, one of the most frequently asked CBD questions is, "How much CBD Oil should I be taking?"

While there are endless articles out there that go into the benefits of CBD, there are much fewer articles about how to properly find the dose of CBD that is right for you. To make things even more confusing, the FDA has not created a Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) for CBD as it’s done with other supplements. So how do you know how much CBD Oil to take for you and your particular ailment?

There are a few important factors to take into account when you are figuring out how much CBD is an effective dosage for you: 1) the concentration of the CBD, 2) your body weight, 3) your individual body chemistry, and 4) the severity of the condition that you are trying to get some relief for.

Because of these factors, there is no "one size fits all" dose, but with a little thought and some trial and error, you should be able to find a dose that's right for you. Let's look at how you can figure that out.

How Much CBD Oil Should YOU Be Taking? A Guide to CBD Dosage

1) Estimate the dosage based on your body weight

As with most other substances, those with higher body weight will require more CBD to feel the effects of it.

A good rule of thumb to determine how much CBD Oil you need for a proper dosage is 1-6mg of CBD for every 10lbs of weight. Using this unit of measure, 20mg-33mg would be a great starting dosage for a 200lb person, while 15mg-25mg would be best for someone who weighs 150lb.

2) Start the dose small and increase gradually

Not only are we all made differently, but we each have our own unique history with the use of substances, medications, supplements, and other things that we've put into our bodies.

This is why we all have different body chemistry, and our individual body chemistry will affect how our body reacts to CBD. This means that your friend's recommendation of the dosage that works for them might not work for you.

With that being said, it is important to first determine your initial dosage based on your weight, gauge how your body reacted to that amount of CBD, then increase gradually while continuing to monitor your body’s reactions till you find the perfect dosage that works for your situation. Don't try to jump your dosage up too much too fast. You could just be a couple of milligrams off from your perfect dosage, so be flexible and patient with it until you can find that perfect dose for you.

Another benefit of CBD Oil is that you can't overdose on it, so don't be worried as you work to find how much CBD Oil is the right dose for you.

3) Consult your doctor

If you are in doubt or have an existing medical condition, consult your physician. While there aren’t a lot of doctors who have experience with CBD, most doctors should have a good idea on how your body will react to CBD and can provide you a professional CBD dosage for your situation.

4) How to accurately measure your dose much CBD is there in a single puff off your vaporizer, or how much CBD is in a dropper from your CBD tincture?

Without understanding how to properly measure your dosage from your preferred method of use, knowing how much CBD you should take is pretty much pointless. So allow us to shed some light on the subject.

  • Measuring a CBD Tincture Dose

Using a CBD tincture is one of the easiest ways to consume CBD. Simply fill the dropper, put the oil under your tongue, then hold it there for 30 to 90 seconds before swallowing. Coupled with some simple math, you can figure out exactly how many drops of CBD Oil you should be taking.

Typically a dropper holds 1 ML of liquid. If you know how many milliliters are in a CBD tincture, you can use this simple formula to determine how much CBD is in its dropper: [Total Milligrams of CBD in Bottle] ÷ [Number of Milliliters in Bottle] = MGs of CBD in a Dropper

While this method isn’t 100% accurate, it is more accurate than not measuring at all.

  • Measuring a CBD Vape Dose

Vaping CBD can be done using a CBD e-liquid or CBD cartridge system.

When using an e-liquid to vape CBD, you’d start by estimating how much CBD is in a dropper, just like with a tincture.

Once you know this, you know how much CBD you are putting into a single tank. As you vape throughout the day, keep an eye on when you need to refill your tank, and how many times you need to refill your tank.

While this is also not 100% accurate, with regular monitoring, you will quickly be able to gauge your CBD intake.

  • Measuring a CBD Capsule

CBD capsules are the most accurate way to measure the amount of CBD that you are taking.

CBD capsules are already filled with an exact amount of CBD. This is how they can provide a truly accurate way to dose CBD.

If your ideal CBD dosage is 16MG-25MG, then simply buy a bottle of 20MG or 25MG capsules and you’re all set. It doesn't get more easy or convenient than that!
